Australian Visitor Visa for Indians can be lodged online now

All the Indian passport holders out there, looking to apply for an Australian Visitor Visa, it’s time to take a sigh of relief!

From July 1, 2017, all the Indian passport holders looking to visit Australia will be able to lodge and monitor their visitor visa application online, as announced by Alex Hawke, the Assistant Department of Home Affairs.

There are different visas like Student, Training, Work, Temporary Activity, Partner, Prospective Marriage, Resident Return, Sponsored Family Visitor, and Maritime Crew Visa that can already be lodged online. And with visitor visa being the new addition, people can be sure of applying for a visa in a fast and convenient manner.

The main reason behind this move was the rising demand for Australian visas in India with more than 65000 visas granted in the past four months alone. There has also been a lot of cavil in Indian nationals for excessive and unwanted delays in processing of their visas.

Currently, it takes about 48 hours to 20 days or more for a visitor visa to get approved. A lot of reasons go into such processing delays, like incomplete applications, applications that require additional information, peak processing periods in certain locations, and the increasing number of applications received.

With the online lodgement of visitor visa, people can easily provide all the information and supporting documentation. They can then check their application status online, and wrap up their travel arrangements immediately. Besides, they can also make electronic payment of the visa application charge through the ImmiAccount portal.
