What is the English requirement to get myself registered as an EN (Enrolled Nurse) or an RN (Registered Nurse) in Australia?

This requirement is same as for IRON Program, i.e., you need to have IELTS 7 each or equivalent score in PTE, OET or TOEFL iBT. For any of the above test, within 6 months of the duration of first exam, results can be combined from two sittings as long as the minimum score for the specific test is reached.

Are there any exceptions to this requirement for registration with AHPRA?

There are few exemptions to this standard as below:

  1. You don’t have to present any test result if English is your primary language i.e. at least 6 years of your primary and secondary education was taught and assessed in English in any of the recognised countries which are Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, The Republic of Ireland and South Africa.
  2. Besides, if you have completed five years full-time equivalent of education taught and assessed in English in any of the recognised countries which includes your nursing study.
