  • FinTech (Financial Technology)
  • MedTec (Medical Technology)

Global Talent Independent Program: Are You Eligible?

Wondering if you fit the bill for applying for a Visa under the GTI program? Let’s look at all the requirements:

Talent Requirements:

To fulfil all the requirements, you must:

  • Be from one of the seven sectors mentioned above
  • Be internationally recognised and be able to demonstrate proof of exceptional achievements in your field of expertise
  • Be able to prove that you are currently an expert in your domain
  • Be to prove beyond doubt that you will be able to find suitable employment in Australia in your chosen field, and be an asset to Australia
  • Have as your Nominator a recognised Australian organisation or a recognised Australian (An Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident) individual with proven expertise in the same field.

Income/Qualifications Requirements:

You must meet either the income threshold or qualification criteria. To be eligible, you must either:

Have current employment/offer of employment with High-Income Threshold of $153,600 per annum.

OR

Have finished an Honours/Master Degree (with 80% average or higher) or PhD (or if you are within six months of submitting the thesis) in the previous three years.

What are the Requirements for Nominators?

The nominator should be a recognised Australia organisation or a distinguished Australia citizen/Permanent Resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

Nominator should endorse you, the applicant, for achievements and international standing.

In short, the nominator will have to furnish Form 1000, along with proof to illustrate their national reputation in the same field as the applicant. To be sure, the nominator does not need to employ the applicant for them to migrate to Australia. Form 1000 does not bound the nominators under any obligations.

How to Apply for a Visa Under the Global Talent Independent Program?

  • Step 1: Submit Expression of Interest:
    You need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Department using the Global Talent contact form. The EOI may include a CV, cover letter, and necessary documents to prove eligibility.

  • Step 2: Apply for the Visa:
    After assessing your application, the Department of Home Affairs will email a unique identifier number to you. Using this identifier, you can apply for Subclass 858 Visa. You will need to adhere to the health and character requirements under Subclass 858.

What You can do with the Subclass 858 Visa?

If granted, the Subclass 858 Visa allows you to live and work in Australia permanently. You can work or study further. You will be able to enjoy the benefits of Australia’s public healthcare scheme and sponsor relatives to Australia. If you are eligible, you may also apply for citizenship in Australia.
