Both visas allow you to live and work for almost a year. You can extend for a couple of years if you seek employment in the country.

Other Differences—

* Subclass 462 holder can submit functional English language and education details. No need to submit such information if you are a 417 holder.

 
It is necessary for Work and Holiday visa applicants to provide a letter of support. Provide the letter of support from respective governments. But, the exemption is permissible for visa holders of USA, China, and Israel.

* You can apply for the 417 and 462 visas from outside Australia with the grant allotted for one year. After that, you can seek one more year. It serves the purpose of the applicant if he works in regional Australia for three months. But, he has to work before the end of the first year.
