Three Main Categories Through Which You Can Apply for Your Canada PR:

1. The Express Entry System

Considering that “EXPRESS” is mentioned in Option 1, you may think it’s the best. However, which option will be best for you depends on several other factors.

For instance, if you are above 35 years of age, your chances of getting PR through the PNP stream will be much better than with the express entry stream.

Other Factors Based on Which You Get Points for Your Canada Permanent Residency:

• Language Skills:
  Earlier people thought that their fluency in English, will help them score better PR points, but now there are new ways on the basis on which you can get more points through your language skills. When you know both English and French then living and studying in Canada becomes much easier. For example, along with English, if you are fluent in French also, you can get 50 points extra for your PR profile.
  
  
• Education

Here is a Step-by-step Guide to Applying for Canadian PR:

1. Obtain ECA (Educational credential assessment) on your education to prove its Canadian equivalent.
2. Take the IELTS test and score at least a minimum score that meets your requirements. A higher score can help you earn more points.
3. Fill out the express entry application to ensure your place in the pool. You must have a score of 500 or higher to be eligible for receiving an invitation to apply i.e. ITA (Considering the backlog situation). If your score is lower, you must wait longer or try another option.
4. Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) when IRCC Canada conducts a draw.
5. Fill out the permanent residency application completely, and then proceed to the last page to upload documents. (You have 60 days to submit all the documents after you get the invitation)
6. Once the PR application is submitted, the IRCC can take up to 6 months to process it. Depending on their workload, it could take longer or shorter. When IRCC has completed your application, you will receive an email with instructions on how to submit your passport.
7. Depending on where you live, submit the passport to the concerned authority
8. Once approved, you will be given a COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence)and visa.
9. Travel to Canada before your visa expires and become a permanent resident.

In general, the process takes at least 6 months for straightforward applicants, but given the IRCC’s current backlog, it could take up to 18-20 months.
